Bookbinding
• noun: the art, craft or trade of binding books.
Bookbinding is the craft of joining together inside of covers a series of sheets, leaves or folios - usually of paper, parchment, or vellum. This creates a book, also called a codex.
Early books were made in monasteries for use on church alters and were often very elaborately decorated. These decorations most commonly included decorated leather, but they also include jewellry, goldsmithing, embroidery, woodcarving, ivory carving, metal work and much more.
